The CHAPITRE scarves are made in France using 100% silk fabric : a natural, soft, and durable material of very high quality. The printing, which is highly demanding, is done in Italy. The cutting and hemming are done by hand in France.
It is a thick silk fabric with a beautiful drape, diagonal ribbed twill weave.
The colors are bright and saturated on the right side, less bright on the reverse side.
The twill creates oblique ribs : the weft thread passes under one then two (or more) other warp threads by shifting one thread on each pass: hence the oblique effect on the right side.
The momme is a Japanese unit of measurement used to assess the density of silk ; CHAPITRE scarves are made of 12 momme silk.
Your scarves are thus both soft , resistant, durable and light.
When printing virgin silk with the pattern of the future square, the printing is only done on the face of the fabric. The ink penetrates and comes out on the other side, in less significant proportions, but which allows the reverse to be colored.
The Chapter silk squares feature extremely fine patterns and intense blacks; However, to obtain a beautiful crosspiece, you need a lot of ink, which can affect the quality of the details. From then on, obtaining a beautiful crosspiece allowing a square back with pleasant colors seemed a very perilous challenge.
Without compromise, in order to obtain the most beautiful cross-section of blacks and colors, and without altering the appearance of the details, Chapter had numerous tests carried out until an optimal result was obtained.
You can therefore enjoy your square with fine details, intense blacks, and a correctly crossed back.
more about the brand
Roulottage is the most refined hemming technique that exists.
It is applied to luxury scarves.
Traditionally made by hand, roulottage is at the heart of tailoring savoir-faire.
The edge of the silk square is rolled to form a tight roll, but flexible and swelling.
Then it is fixed by an almost invisible handmade stitch.
The rolled hem has 4 stitches per cm, as discreet as possible.
The thread used is of the same type than the yarn used for weaving the square,
The fabric is rolled and tightened on itself to give hold to the square.
The hem is uninterrupted, straight and of even thickness.
The angles of the square must not be cut, but rolled at a right angle, without point or rounding.
FRENCH OR ITALIAN ROULOTTAGE ?
French style, the roll rolls up to the right side. p>
Italian style, it spins upside down.
